In Canada, the Express Entry program is a merit-based, point-based system that allows you to apply for permanent residency through the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canadian Experience Class Program, and the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Provinces also use Express Entry to find candidates for their own immigration programs.
Is the “Express Entry” or “Express Entry” right for you?
If you are an educated worker fluent in English or French and have the equivalent of at least twelve months of full-time work in recent years in professional, managerial, or technical trades or jobs, you may want to apply for fast entry.
You may want to apply for entry if you are in a demanding industry and think you may be able to get job offers. You will need to ensure that you are competent to enter and live in Canada under current rules. Since you compete with other workers around the world, this may be your best option if you have a good education and a lot of experience. It costs nothing to apply, so if you qualify, you can set up a profile.
How to request the “Express Entry” or “Fast Entry”
To apply to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry, you must first create an online profile. You will be asked about your language fluency, your skills and work experience, and your education, as well as your contact and other information. You have 60 days to complete your profile after starting to create one.
Once you have submitted your profile, your information will be evaluated. If you are eligible for the Federal Skilled Operations Program, the Canadian Experience Program, or the Federal Skilled Worker Program, you will enter the Express Entry group. Then you can use Job Bank, recruiters, online job postings and other options to search for a job.
Since its entry into force in 2015 much has been said about the Express Entry. The first thing to know is that Express Entry is not an immigration program, but an electronic platform that manages the applications for permanent residence of three major federal economic immigration programs:
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Provinces and territories also use the platform to recruit candidates for some of their Provincial Nomination Programs. The Express Entry platform works like a filter. Only those applications with the highest probability of financial success are processed. For this, candidates are scored on a scale of 1200 points. Periodically, people with the highest scores are invited to submit their applications.
Therefore, it is the positioning on the Express Entry platform that determines the possibility of applying for permanent residence in Canada, and not only the fact of meeting the requirements of the program, or the date on which the profile was created.
1. Complete a personal profile on the Express Entry platform. To do this, you must be eligible for one of the three economic immigration programs.
2. The system preselects the candidate, and gives him a score, according to a comprehensive classification system or Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
1. The Ministry of Immigration conducts invitation rounds and issues an Invitation to Apply or
The process is entirely online.
EXPRESS ENTRY PROFILE CREATION
Creating a profile does not represent a formal application for permanent residence but an expression of interest to immigrate to Canada. To create the profile it is necessary:
Take a language proficiency test in English and / or French
If you completed studies outside of Canada, you may also need to have your education evaluated against Canadian standards. Find out more about language and education assessments here.
You should also provide details about your skills, work experience, language skills, education, and other personal information. Learn more about selection elements.
Earn additional points if you have a valid job.
If you are in the Quick Entry group, you can start a job search by creating a job match account in Job Bank. If you don’t have a job when you arrive in Canada, you can still use Job Bank to find one.
You can use Express Entry to qualify for a state or region designation.
There are dozens of provincial programs, many of which require having a job offer, or ties to the locality.
Some local governments require that the nomination application be submitted directly to the province. If you have a community in mind, it is a good idea to check out local immigration programs.
How the pre-sectioned candidate pool or express entry pool works
At this stage, candidates are positioned in the group using a comprehensive ranking system or Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) . The system emphasizes known factors that contribute to financial success, such as language, education, and work history.
The department regularly conducts invitation rounds in which the highest scoring candidate is invited to apply for permanent residence.
Express Entry group profiles are valid for 12 months. In the meantime, you can update any changes, such as educational level or language test results. If you haven’t received the invitation after 12 months, you can recreate your profile and join the group if you meet the criteria.
If you are invited to make a request, the information you included in your profile will be verified at that time. If the information is not true, you will not be eligible for a visa for five years. Learn more about false representation here. For this reason, it is essential to create the profile carefully, and make sure that all the information has the appropriate supports and that it meets the program’s requirements.
How to apply for permanent residence
Remember that only those candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence:
- are nominated by a province or territory or
- They are among the top ranked on the list based on their skills and experience.
The process is completely online, and all communications are made through the electronic portal of the immigration department.
To get the most points, keep your profile updated and detailed when completing your profile. You can stay in the Express Entry group for up to one year. After twelve months, you can log back in by creating a new profile.
